Building ice roads for forestry may sound like a thing of the past, but in northern Sweden it remains a practical and highly efficient solution. In the Kalix archipelago, an ice road more than 1,300 meters long and 80 meters wide was constructed to enable winter harvesting on an island — a project requiring experience, careful planning and full respect for natural conditions.
The project is led by Göran Nilsson, a forestry contractor and Komatsu customer with extensive experience in both harvesting and ice road construction.
